Following are the procedures and requirements for obtaining driving license in Islamabad.
Learner Permit:
Requirements:
- A copy of the C.N.I.C
- 60 rupees ticket from any post office
- Get Code Book of Traffic Rules and Regulation from Traffic Police Office.
- Medical Certificate (by Authorized Medical Practitioner)
Note: Applicants going to Police Facilitation Center F-6 need to bring Form-B with them on that day. Applicants visiting the F-8 office, on the other hand, will be examined by an official working within the organization. Hence they will not need to carry Form B with them.
Procedure to obtain Learner’s Permit:
- An applicant must follow these steps to obtain a learner’s permit:
- The applicant has to visit the traffic police office in person.
- Islamabad Traffic Police Office is at F-8/1 West Service Road.
- Those who wish to apply should park their cars in the parking lot of Gali No. 32 and then show their original CNIC at the QMS registration desk to get their token.
- Then wait your turn in the One Window Hall. After that, he will give personal information and have to check it twice.
- Get your learner driver license after entering your information. You have to take an hour class on traffic rules and road safety. Have the teacher mark your permit at the end of class.
- If you want to take the test again after 42 days, go to Islamabad Traffic Police Officer. (The person taking the test should have their own car.)
Procedure for obtaining Permanent Driving License:
After passing both the ITP traffic sign test and the driving test, you will be issued a driving license that is good for 5 years in Islamabad. Here are the steps you need to take:
The person has to return to the ITP office after 42 days have passed after obtaining the learner’s permit.
You need to bring at least three copies of both your original NIC and your learner pass. You can get your token by showing your original NIC at the booth next to the parking lot.
You have to wait your turn in the hall. As soon as your badge number is there, you will be called to the right counter. Your photo and fingerprints will then be saved on the computer.
Get the test form and make copies of your ID and learner’s pass to keep with you.
Those who want to take the theory test on touch screen should go to the room with touch screen theory test.
Theory test process through touch screen:
Those who wish can also take the theory test for road signs on the touch computer. The test will take 4 minutes to complete.
- There are 10 questions, and each carries 10 points.
- If you get 70 points you pass the academic test, which is 7 out of 10 questions.
- Those who want can also take the test manually at the ITP office.
Driving License Fee Schedule:
According to the official website of ITP, the driving license fee schedule is what you have to deposit in the National Bank.
- Fee for learner’s permit valid for six months (each category): PKR 349
- Fee for Professional License (M. Cycle + LTV/HTV or PSV): PKR 2100
- Fee for Issuance of Professional License (Single Category): Rs.1800
- Fee for Issuance of Non-Occupational License (Motorcycle or Motorcycle + M-Car/Jeep): PKR 1800
Renewal of Driving License:
An appointment can be made through the traffic police website to renew your driving license. But the online portal gives only a certain number of appointments every day, and the walk-in token method is another way to do it.
Procedures:
To get a ticket, visit the Islamabad Traffic Police office and show your original CNIC card at the front desk.
- Proceed with the fingerprint check and take your picture.
- When it’s your turn, go to the bar and fill out the form there.
- Put the necessary documents on the form and send it inside.
You have to pay Rs. 1,149 after one year, or Rs. 1,949 after one to three years. The person will also have to take the driving and theory tests and pay a fee of Rs 500. 4,649 three years later.
After you pay the fee, the agent will give you a confirmation slip with the date you will receive the license.
You can get your license by visiting the license center on the given date.
Required Documents:
- Medical report. This is Form-B which you can download from the ITP website.
- A COVID-19 vaccination certificate.
- Two passport size photographs.
- Two copies of your CNIC (valid).
- Applicant must also carry original driving license.
International Driving License:
- Those residing in Islamabad should visit the Citizen Facilitation Center at G-11/4 if required.
- Foreign driver’s license. It costs Rs 1050 and takes seven days. I need a foreigner urgently.
- Allow immediately. It costs Rs. 2,050 and ready in 24 hours.
Required Documents:
- Two passport size photographs
- A copy of your driving license issued by Islamabad Traffic Police.
- Photocopy of your passport (valid) and visa (valid).
- Photocopy of your CNIC of the applicant
- 30 from Post Office Driving Stamp of Rs.
- Proof of residence in the federal capital.
- Medical certificate (if applicable, for age 50 years and above)
Documents Required for Duplicate License:
- Duplicate application form required inside file cover
- Attested copy of C.N.I.C
- 2 recent attested photographs (passport size).
- A report from the computer section showing the license expiry date.
- Police Station FIR (Lost License Report)
- Tickets will be posted as per schedule.
Documents required for license validation:
- Verification form
- A copy of medical certificate from any medical center
- A copy of the N.I.C
- 2 recent certified photos
- An original learner’s permit of at least six weeks
- Scheduled driving ticket
- The first license will be attached.
